Africa’s development program through the establishment of linkages
between Australian and South African higher education
institutions.

This seven year Program supported links projects between South
African and Australian higher education institutions with the aim
to increase the capacity of South African institutions to
participate in development programs. Link projects were
supported in the areas of community and education development,
institutional development, research and development, economic
policy planning, and administration.
Under its responsibility for management and coordination of the
Program, IDP provided services in capacity building and
relationship management – promoting the program to senior
government and university personnel in Australia and South Africa
and conducting capacity building workshops on proposal writing, and
liaising with senior personnel in Australian and South African
higher and further education institutions, Ministries of Education,
university and technikon coordinating committees; project
management – calling for project submissions and administering
project proposals, conducting a transparent assessment process, and
arranging seed-funded exchange visits/study tours between South
Africa and Australia, and; monitoring and evaluation.
