skills through sponsored study that will contribute to the
development of the home country upon completion.

The ADS program provides opportunities for people from
developing countries to gain knowledge and skills in areas
classified as high-level development priorities for their home
country. As the managing contractor of this program in China,
IDP was responsible for the successful placement of identified
students into preferred course and institutions in Australia
through a joint Government of PRC / Government of Australia
selection process.
In managing some 40 scholarships for Chinese students per annum
at the Masters level of study, IDP ensured gender equity in the
program by guaranteeing at least 50% of scholarships were offered
to women.
Services provided included liaison with Government and AusAID
regarding candidate nomination; checking eligibility and compliance
of completed applications; coordinating English language testing of
all short-listed applicants; counselling and placement of top
ranked candidates in courses of study in Australia which best fit
their training and development needs; development and delivery of a
pre-departure course for all awardees; administration of visas,
medicals, and travel; assistance with family reunion, and; ongoing
monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness and efficiency of
the program.
