provision of development scholarships to East Timorese to gain
knowledge and skills to contribute to the development of East
Timor.

The East Timor ADS Program aimed to provide
East Timorese with the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills
through study in Australia and, where applicable, within the
Australasia region.
The goal of the project was to:
- a) reduce poverty by contributing to improved
performance of departments, agencies and organisations in meeting
their corporate objectives.
- b) contribute to human resource development
in East Timor.
IDP also managed the East Timor Eduka
Scholarship Program which was a partnership between AusAID and
the Australian Universities with similar objectives.
In both Programs IDP managed the promotion of
the program to East Timorese, administration of the application
process, the short-listing and selection of applicants, their
placement into appropriate education and training programs in
Australia, and where necessary in other regional universities,
arrangement of English language testing and training, pre-departure
briefing for successful students and the monitoring of student
progress during their studies.
